SDM, inspector in Indore Lokayukta net for taking bribe

Lokayukta police sources said panchayat inspector Sitamram Patidar was arrested accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 on behalf of Manawar sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Abhay Singh Oharia in Dhar district.

The Indore Lokayukta police trapped a panchayat inspector while accepting a bribe on behalf of a sub-divisional magistrate, police said on Tuesday.

Lokayukta police sources said panchayat inspector Sitamram Patidar was arrested accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 on behalf of Manawar sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Abhay Singh Oharia in Dhar district.

Both the SDM and the panchayat inspector have been booked under Sections 7, 13 (1) D, 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, police said.

Lokayukta police said Ramesh Mandloi, a sacked village headman had filed a complaint against the SDM and the panchayat inspector for demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 for reinstating him to his former post and ending the a case against him.

Mandloi was removed from the post of village head of Sitapuri for alleged financial irregularities in connection with the construction of a school building in the village.

A team comprising of Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police (DSP) BS Parihar, Daulat Singh and inspector Anil Chouhan caught the official red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 on Tuesday.

The SDM had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 for reinstating him to his post and ending the case.

Cops sent to jail

In another case, a special court in Indore jailed two policemen including a sub-inspector and a constable in a bribery case.

The Indore Lokayukta police Tuesday submitted a charge sheet against the former officer in-charge of Kanadia police station sub-inspector DS Chandel and a constable of the same police station Shivprakash Mishra for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000.

The special judge Indira Singh rejected their bail application and sent them to jail.

This is the first time that cops have been sent to jail in a bribery case in the state.

Kantilal Jain, a resident of Kanadia Road had filed a complaint against the SI for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 to let him out on bail.

Mishra was caught red-handed accepting a bribe on behalf of the SI in December 2013.

Both the accused policemen were on bail.
