After the makeover of Madhya Pradesh’s only rail coach restaurant at the premises of Hotel Ashoka Lakeview here, tourism department is now planning to open such rail coach themed restaurants in Indore and Jabalpur.
Tourism department has now renovated the existing rail coach restaurant here and changed its name from Shan-e-Bhopal to Bhopal Express Restaurant to attract more tourists.
While sharing information, executive director of Madhya Pradesh state tourism and development corporation OV Chaudhary said the state’s only rail coach restaurant was one of the tourist attractions in the state capital.
He said the rail coach restaurant was set up in 2007.
“It has a capacity of 35 people and gives experience like they have on palace on wheels.
The windows fitted with LCD TVs show the actual footage of the view from train window between Bhopal and Hoshangabad,” he said.
Manager of the rail coach restaurant Pradeep Khare said once the customers sit on the tables, they switch on the window TVs so that they get the feeling as if they were in an actual coach.
“It is different experience to dine in an actual rail coach that has been changed into a luxury restaurant. Tourists who come here like its uniqueness,” he said.
