South Korean varsity confers doctorate degree on Mahajan

South Korea’s Hankuk University of Foreign Affairs (HUFS) conferred honorary doctorate in political science on Indore MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in Seoul on Saturday.

South Korea’s Hankuk University of Foreign Affairs (HUFS) conferred honorary doctorate in political science on Indore MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in Seoul on Saturday. She is currently leading an Indian Parliamentary Delegation to South Korea.

In her acceptance speech, Mahajan said that she was honoured to receive an honorary doctorate from the prestigious HUFS University. Observing that HUFS is recognized as the best institution for foreign language education in Korea, she praised the university as a key promoter of international understanding, having MoUs with over 500 universities and institutions in 84 countries.

Speaking further, she said honour bestowed on her assumes special significance as people rarely recognises the work of Parliamentarians. She underlined the common democratic traits India and South Korea shared.
