Forest officials are still searching for the remains of the tigress in wells and water bodies in Khareta and Jaisinghpura.

Chief conservator of forest and field director Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR) Govind Sagar Bhardwaj said that after getting information, the forest officials raided Khareta village near Zindoli and took Chabbe Singh alias Chaggi in their custody. During questioning, he accepted that he had poached a wild boar.

Forest officials are camping in Khareta and Jaisinghpura villages and searching for the remains of tigress ST5.

After getting information a three-member team, comprising forest officials from Alwar buffer and Akbarpur forest range, was formed for the raid.

After ST5 went missing, a male tiger ST11 was poached in Indiok forest area on March 19. Forest officials looking for the missing tigress claimed that they were getting signals from ST5’s collar at specific times.

The then deputy conservator of STR Balaji Kari has found negligence on part of range officials for the poaching of ST11. After the poaching, he was asked to submit a report.

In his report, Kari said that the assistant conservator of forest Surendra Singh Dhakad, ranger Gajanfari Zedi and beat guard Shambhu Dayal did not patrol daily. In the villages nearby, patrolling on foot is a necessity. If they had been alert, STR would not have lost ST11, he said.
