The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Thursday registered a case against the son of a former BJP minister and three others, including two from New Delhi, for acquiring bogus commercial pilot licences, opening a fresh chapter in the fake pilot scam that surfaced in March.
Pawan Dilawar, son of Madan Dilawar, who was the minister of social justice and empowerment in the previous BJP government, Rohan Saxena and Siddhartha Lochab of New Delhi and Ankur Garg were booked on charges of availing commercial pilot licenses (CPLs) on the basis of fake flying hours.
Inspector-general of police DC Jain said the accused fudged cross-country entries in their flying training progress report in connivance with former chief flying instructor (CFI) of Rajasthan State Flying School Mohinder Kumar Choudhary, CFI of Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation Mahavir Singh Beniwal and additional general manager (air traffic control) at Sanganer International Airport Manoj Jain.
Choudhary, Beniwal and Jain have already been arrested and are in judicial custody. The bureau has also arrested Choudhary’s assistant and three pilots in connection with the scam.
Additional superintendent of police Bhupendra Singh Yadav said Lochab and Saxena acquired pilot licences from Canada and New Zealand respectively. They wanted to convert their licences into Indian licences for which they had to take some flying tests.
