Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Banwarilal Bairwa died at a hospital in Jaipur on Wednesday after a prolonged illness.
HT ImageHe was 77. His body was taken to his home town in Tonk district for cremation, official sources said.
Bairwa was Deputy CM in the Gehlot government till 2003. He represented Tonk district in the Lok Sabha twice.
Bairwa, who began his political career in 1972, was denied Congress ticket in the assembly polls last year.
Assembly Speaker Dipendra Singh Shekhawat expressed grief over the death of Bairwa, saying he was a true parliamentarian.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also condoled Bairwa's demise.
