On Saturday evening, a police team in Bharatpur rescued 168 children from Ajmer-Sealdah Express and arrested 39 people accompanying them. The children, employed earlier in Jaipur, were being taken to Kolkata as cheap labour.
Later, around 2 am, a team comprising Jaipur administration officials, social activists, and the railway police rescued 67 child labourers when they were about to board the Jaipur-Howrah Express. Ten people, believed to be middlemen, were arrested. All the rescued children are aged between 7 and 16 years and belong to Bihar and West Bengal. Most of the children, however, claimed they were travelling alone.
