Gandhi, according to sources, asked Youth Congress president Rajiv Satav to prune the list of handpicked youth delegates by almost a fourth. The youth brigade for the session comprised Youth Congress and NSUI representatives. Initially, around 160 such delegates were supposed to come. But now only 125 young faces will be seen at the meet, which will decide on the future road map of the party.

Gandhi’s move came after several senior leaders expressed unhappiness over the manner in which even Congress secretaries and UPA’s ministers of state were denied invitation to accommodate Youth Congress and NSUI members.

Meanwhile, the brain-storming session is likely to have an additional session on science and technology and education during its two-day meet at Jaipur. This addition, taking the total number of sessions to six, was done at the behest of Gandhi, who favours special focus on these areas.
