Two audio clips have gone viral on social media in which a BJP lawmaker is purportedly heard threatening to transfer a doctor over an autopsy report of a villager, who died of an illness.
The district medical and health officer, however, has transferred the doctor, saying there were a series of complaints against him.
Two audio clips of 1.41 minutes and 32 seconds have gone viral on social media in the district, in which the BJP MLA from Jhalawar’s Manoharthana, Kanwarlal Meena, is purportedly heard talking to medical officer of Iklera community health centre Dr Satyanarayan Meena about the autopsy report of a man from Amritkheri village in the region.
In the first clip, the BJP MLA is purportedly heard asking the medical officer why he has mentioned “snake bite” as the cause of death in the autopsy report of the villager, who he claimed died of illness three days ago.
The medical officer is heard replying that his colleague at the health centre Dr Dwarkalal, treated the deceased and he only conducted the autopsy, in which “snake bite was evident”.
In the second clip, the legislator is purportedly heard telling the medical officer that his colleague has denied treating the patient. He then threatens the medical officer that if he does not “correct” the autopsy report, he will be transferred.

{{/usCountry}}Asked about the audio clips, the legislator said since ₹ 2 lakh compensation is given to the next of kin of people in cases of snake bites in the state, the medical officer was seeking financial favours from the deceased’s family members and concocted the autopsy report to show the cause of death as snake bite.
“As a public representative, it is my duty to see that ineligible persons do not take benefit of government schemes by falsifying autopsy reports,” the legislator said. “I told the doctor to not mention snake bite as the cause of death of the as the man died of an illness.”
Asked about the audio clips, the medical officer refused to comment.
District chief medical and health officer Dr Sajid Khan, however, said the medical officer has been transferred from the Iklera community health centre to the chief medical health officer’s office, following a series of complaints against him.
The department will conduct an enquiry into the complaints against the doctor, he said.
