Raje hikes minimum labour wages by 6, cites inflation

Wages of unskilled labour has been increased to ₹213 from ₹207; semi-skilled ₹223 from ₹217; skilled ₹233 from ₹227; and high skilled labour ₹283 from ₹277

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday said that the government has increased the minimum labour wages in Rajasthan by 6 per day. This comes months before Rajasthan goes to polls later this year.

Addressing people at Chauth ka Barwara in Sawai Madhopur, she said that in view of inflation and to provide relief to labours, the minimum wages have been increased.

She said the minimum wages in all categories has been increased by 6 per day. According to the notification issued by government wages of unskilled labour has been increased to 213 from 207; semi-skilled 223 from 217; skilled 233 from 227; and high skilled labour 283 from 277. The increased wages will come into effect from January 1, 2018.

Raje informed the gathering that the state government has spent 1835 crore and benefitted around 21 lakh people through health insurance and free-medicine schemes. In addition, 10 lakh girls have been provided social security through RajShri Yojana.

Raje said that 5132 families have benefitted from the Rural Housing Scheme in Khandar area.

Raje during her visit inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development project worth 147 crore — schemes involved renovation of canal and dam, college, road construction, hostel, primary health centre etc.
