Rs 7.51 lakh looted at gunpoint from bank in Udaipur

The robbers barged into the Canara Bank branch on Friday and ordered the women manning the cash counters to hand over the money.

Two masked robbers looted Rs 7.51 lakh at gunpoint from a cash counter of a Canara Bank branch in Pulla area of Udaipur on Friday, police said. The robbers barged into the bank and ordered two women officials manning the cash counter to hand over the money.

The accused executed the crime in just three minutes and fled off on a bike, police said. A case has been lodged in the incident and the check post has been alerted. Police are examining the footages of the closed circuit camera installed in the bank.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 1.30 pm, when the branch manager and a few other staff of the branch had gone out for official work. Reportedly, the security guard was also not present at the time of the robbery.

The masked men, wielding an air gun and a knife, headed straight for the women employees. While one of the accused emptied the money in the cash counter drawer in the black bag, the other kept watch. They fled within three minutes on a bike, one of the women cashier’s told police.

Superintendent of police RP Goyal and station house officers of four police stations rushed to branch after the broad daylight robbery.
