Being wary of rebels who can spoil the show at the upcoming panchayat polls, the state BJP unit has asked ticket seekers to sign affidavits promising that they would continue to the support party’s authorised candidates even if they are denied tickets.

BJP ticket applicants have to now give in writing in their biodata that they will welcome all the party’s decisions.

In the new application format, the party has asked for new details such as toilet at home, photocopy of Class 10 marksheet, criminal cases with present status, number of children and their dates of births, if contested any prior elections, caste, voter id, etc.

Additionally, the applicant has to prove he/she is an active member by attaching a list of 100 general members that they have introduced. State BJP president Ashok Parnami said, “This will morally bind the workers to support the BJP’s authorised candidate.”
