Abusive words not a one-sided affair: CPI

"The Opposition is also badmouthing our leaders," Bardhan alleged and maintained that he was satisfied with the steps taken by the CPI-M against Basu.

"I am aware that Bose used a language that does not befit a Left Front leader, but I am quite satisfied that the CPI-M leadership has taken steps to put an end to that and he has issued an apology," Bardhan said at a press conference here.

Bardhan said he wanted the slanging match to end and the "election campaign be held on issues".

"We consider election as a political battle and not a slanging match," he said.

Asked if he could recollect anything from the opposition leaders close to what Bose had said, he claimed that Banerjee had referred to CPI-M leaders as 'Haridas' (a non-entity).
