Asked about the matter, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday told a press conference here, "the activities of the Army of Pakistan are well known."

"The Prime Minister is well aware of the consequences of this kind of secret talks, but as we don't know much of the fact, we cannot comment anything more," Prasad said.

Shankar, however, did not specify what the consequences could be.

London-based The Times had on Saturday reported that Singh had appointed an 'unofficial envoy' to contact Kayani who exercises de facto control over Pakistan's foreign policy.
