State Chief Secretary Asok Mohan Chakraborty said that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee finalised the package in a meeting today.

Giving details of the package, Chakraborty said that henceforth the family of any policeman killed in such an encounter would continue to draw the last salary drawn by the victim every month till the date of retirement.

Besides this, the victim's family would continue to get all other benefits admissible in such cases, Chakraborty said.

The Director General of Police, Bhupinder Singh, said that the victim's family would also be allowed to continue to stay in the government premises till his date of retirement.

The ex-gratia amount in such cases would also increase from Rs two lakh to Rs five lakh, while 30 per cent of the salary would be given as 'risk allowance' to those policemen posted in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) areas, Singh said.
