He knows Subhan’s uncle, Ibne, and certainly knows Firhad Hakim, the minister. This is what Md Iqbal told CID sleuths during questioning in Dehrion-Sone on Friday.

Iqbal, who was arrested on Thursday, is being brought to Kolkata on transit remand to be produced before a court here.

“Congress leader Mokhtar went in front of Harimohan Ghosh College and his boys hurled bombs. I had to rush there. You would appreciate that as I am a leader of that area,” Iqbal told the sleuths.

During the day, Iqbal ate nothing except biscuits and sipped water. “For the last two three days I have not eaten anything and, now, I have no appetite,” he told the police.

At around 10 in the morning, Iqbal’s daughter, Saba, reached the police station with medicines. “We allowed his daughter to give him the medicines,” Raj Kumar, station house officer of Dehri-on-Sone railway police station, told HT.

Later, a special court was convened at the residence of the magistrate where Iqbal was taken. The CID obtained a transit remand for him for two days.
