The GJM has decided to close down all offices, educational institutions, tea gardens and the cinchona plantation on Thursday to facilitate all to take part in the victory celebrations slated for Thursday.
It had been a quiet and uneventful home coming for Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Chief Bimal Gurung, late on Tuesday night after witnessing the inking ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement for the formation of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA.) on July 18 at the Pintail Village in North Bengal along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram

A GJM public meeting had been organized at the Pintail Village on Tuesday. Gurung after addressing GJM supporters on Tuesday returned back to Darjeeling at night. Though the inking ceremony has been dubbed "historic" the Hills are yet to switch on to celebration mode.
A few GJM supporters (mainly the women) were seen moving around Kurseong, Kalimpong and Darjeeling towns on Wednesday singing and dancing and bursting crackers. The GJM has also announced a large scale celebration in Darjeeling town on July 21.
"All educational institutions, offices, tea gardens, cinchona plantations will remain closed on Thursday to facilitate people from all walks of life to join in. Banks and shops will remain open" stated GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri.
