“We will have a tough battle. The unity between Trinamool Congress and Congress in one factor. The ruling Left Front has taken this into account and we will overcome it,” Karat told a meet-the-press programme at Press Club in Kolkata.

The CPI-M general secretary, however, was confident of securing a decisive majority in the state.

Asked whether Nandigram would have any impact on the election, Karat said that the election did not have a single issue. “State issues will matter, but they will not be the only issue.”
