West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) boss Mamata Banerjee on Friday predicted Lok Sabha polls were two-three months away and the results would put her party back in charge of the ministry of railways.
“If one thinks that he will shut down all railway projects in Bengal, let him try. Please wait for another two to three months. Lok Sabha polls are imminent and the railway (ministry) is coming back to the Trinamool Congress,” she said on Friday.
“The people of Bengal know how to get back respect after an insult,” Banerjee told the party’s women workers and leaders at a meeting to mark International Women’s Day at Netaji Indoor Stadium.
TMC walked out of the Congress-led UPA government in September 2012.
Banerjee said Bengal was developing despite being deprived of money by the Centre. “Just at the time when Bengal is doing well, they (the Centre) are trying to pull us back. Just wait for another two to three months. We will see who pulls whom down.” The Congress and CPI(M) reacted sharply to her remarks.
“We are aware she has an array of talents including painting and writing. But I never knew she was also a political astrologer,” said Congress leader Manas Bhuniya.
