Chief minister Mamata Banerjee was admitted to Belle Vue Clinic with complaints of body pain, breathing trouble and palpitation after returning from Delhi on Wednesday.
The chief minister was driven straight to the clinic from the airport and was admitted at 4:30 pm. Clinic sources said she was being examined by a medical team led by Subrata Moitra.
Sources said her blood pressure level dipped to 90/65 against the normal range of 120/80.
On Tuesday, the CM had complained of illness after being heckled by SFI activists in New Delhi. AIIMS doctors examined the Trinamool chief and advised her to get admitted for observation.
Mamata flew back to Kolkata after cancelling her meetings with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union finance minister P Chidambaram. “She complained of pain in her shoulders, waist and legs with palpitation symptoms. She has undergone chest and shoulder X-rays. She will also undergo a CT scan and an MRI, ”Moitra said.
“SFI activists wanted to kill the chief minister. We have filed an FIR against them in New Delhi. SFI leader Ritabrata Banerjee has been named,” panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee said.
“I was on oxygen support on Tuesday night. This forced me to cancel my meetings with the Prime Minister and the finance minister,” Mamata told reporters shortly before leaving Delhi.
