The premises of Peerless Hospital turned into a war zone with policemen opening fire inside the premises. “I have asked IG south Bengal to arrest the culprits. The district magistrate informed that there was some negligence on the part of the hospital authorities. Even that would be investigated,” said home secretary Ardhendu Sen.

The incident was trigerred when the hospital allegedly refused to admit a 14-year old girl, a victim of the accident.

The locals, who had carried the girl to the hospital, rushed her to a nearby nursing home, which too, declined to treat her.

The girl died after the hospital refused again. The mob, then, swept through the reception, emergency, out patients department, blood bank, pathology, discharge unit, X Ray units.
