Health minister Suryakanta Mishra does not have even a rupee in his pocket. In the affidavit he filed before the subdivisional officer of Kharagpur on Saturday, Mishra declared that he has no cash in hand at present and his income over the last financial year stands at R89,400.

Sushanta Ghosh, minister for western region development, listed his cash in hand to be R2,100 and his returns over the last financial year to be Rs 1,70,300. Rabilal Moitra, the law minister who is contesting the state polls from the Gopiballavpur assembly seat in West Midnapore, pegged his annual income in 2010-11 to be R1,31,213 and has Rs 5,000 in hand.

Apart from the three state ministers, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Manas Bhuniya, who is contesting the polls from West Midnapore, also submitted his affidavit along with his nomination paper. According to his declaration, Bhuniya has R15,000 in hand and his net returns over the last financial year stands at R6,66,381.

Purely in terms of declaration of assets of the state ministers contesting from West Midnapore, the health minister is worth the least. Even as Mishra, who is contesting from the Narayangarh assembly seat, has declared to be holding no cash in hand, he has listed a total amount of R1,81,373.67 saved in a bank.
