President Pratibha Patil today inquired about the health of ailing marxist patriarch Jyoti Basu from his son Chandan.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said over phone that the President made a telephone call to Chandan from Amravati in Maharashtra.

The President wished 95-year-old Basu a speedy recovery.
