The alleged molester, Sujit Mondal, 30, was travelling with a group of colleagues, all of whom work with a catering agency.

The victim was one of a group of three South Korean women students who came to the city to work for a missionary outfit. They were accompanied by a local guide who was with them in the bus and was beaten up by Mondal for trying to fend them off.

"At around 7.30am, I noticed the women crying at a corner of Strand Road. I went up to them and they narrated how the youths passed lewd comments at them throughout the journey. One of the women said a man, later identified as Mondal, molested her. The guide showed bruises on his body. He said Mondal beat him up when he tried to resist the molestation," sergeant Sreeprasanna Dikpaty, 39, said.

"I took the guide along with me on my bike and tried to locate the group. Onlookers said they took Brabourne Road. I searched every corner of Brabourne Road and finally located one of them near Posta. On grilling him, I apprehended Mondal and handed him over to cops at the Burrabazar police station," Dikpaty said.
