SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhury said the party would not tolerate indiscipline.

The axe fell on SP state committee member Ram Sahai Yadav, Akmal, Naim, Rais (all from Agra), Shiv Poojan Singh (Sultanpur), Satish Kumar, Zalim Singh (both from Lucknow), Sattar Yadav, (Bhartana, Etawah), Bablu Ansari (Meerut) and Aabad Mansoori.

Yadav, SP’s state president, also expelled two party leaders, advocate Nahar Singh and Ramesh Yadav, for anti-party activities in Ghaziabad. Party sources said the two leaders had allegedly misbehaved with some officers.

After the swearing-in ceremony, sloganeering SP workers had broken all the security barriers and laid siege to the dais. The mob pulled down floral decoration and flung it in the air, leaving the police to bring the situation under control.
