The office had facilitated nearly 1500 recruitments last year. While those at the helm are reticent on giving the actual recruitment figures for the past six months, they do not hesitate in admitting that recruitment process has suffered.

“With a workforce of 50, we can’t discharge both the duties. The staff in these months has been busy carrying out the daunting task of completing the formalities for the allowance distribution,” said a senior official of the office.

And even while the companies are still eager to hire people through the employment office, the officials admit that have no time to cater to the multinationals in their full capacity.

“There was time when we had companies every day recruiting people here. Nearly 150 recruitments were made every month. Companies want to do it still. But we are not advertising the vacancies in newspapers to avoid the multiplied responsibilities,” said the official. As per the trend earlier, the office used to approach to various companies and entered into tie up for placements.
