Over 4000 additional security personnel have been deployed across Uttar Pradesh in view of the festivals of Barawafat and Holi, a top police officer said today.
Additional police force has been deployed at sensitive districts and directives have been issued to respective police chiefs to take precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident, ADG (Law and order) Brij Lal told reporters here.
Over 38 companies (3800 personnel) of Provincial Arms Constabulary and six companies of Rapid Action Force have been made available to districts like Lucknow, Meerut, Bareilly, Kanpur, Faizabad, Allahabad, Azamgarh, Moradabad,Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, Gorakhpur and Varanasi among others, he said.
Directives have also been issued to IGs, DIGs and SPs to take necessary steps to ensure peace and order during the festivals, Brij Lal said.
