At least 10 persons died on Monday and about 45 others are seriously ill after consuming spurious liquor in Malihabad area, on the outskirts of Uttar Pradesh state capital Lucknow.
The incident took place in Kharta village in Malihabad from where the ill were rushed to King George's Medical University Trauma Centre. Doctors said at least half a dozen more are critically ill.
Police and administrative teams rushed to the village and probe began in to the incident wherein the primary reports suggested the liquor the victim consumed was spurious.
"Some of the victims have come and several others are there. Therefore we have sent four ambulances to the village in Malihabad to bring more of them," said Dr SN Sankhwar the in charge of the Trauma Centre.
