The one-member judicial probe committee of Justice Vishnu Sahai would be ready to begin the inquiry by Thursday. But the time required for the probe is not definite.

"It is too early to set any time frame," Justice Sahai said on Wednesday.

"It depends on the availability of those who want to appear before the commission. The volume of work will determine the time frame."

The probe would be carried out in accordance with the Commission of Inquiry Act 1952.

"It cannot be on the basis of my whims and mercy, or there would be accusations and allegations on caste lines from various corners. One must accept the sensitivity of this matter," he said.

"I can assure you that I will discharge my duties with best of my abilities," added Justice Sahai, who has already received a copy of the notification.
