Lokayukta has summoned the officers of the Lucknow Development Authority, state mining department and RNN to submit documents related with the construction of the memorials and parks.

Talking to HT Justice Mehrotra said, he has summoned the director mines Bhavnath on July 19, MD RNN on July 24, advisor to the state government Farooqui on July 25 and former director mines, Ram Bodh Maurya on July 26. “The former MD RNN CP Singh and engineer-in- chief PWD, T Ram will be also issued notices for their role in the construction of the memorials and supply of the pink stones” he said. T Ram won on BSP ticket in the assembly election while Singh was lobbying for important post in Utarakhand government.

Justice Mehrotra said I have directed the LDA, RNN, Mining and PWD head of departments to submit the list of the officers involved in the supply of the pink stones to the memorials and who made payment to the contractors. The preliminary report prepared by the director mines would be the basis of the investigation.

The private companies involved in the construction of the memorials formed a consortium to supply pink stone for the memorials. The role of the middlemen in the supply of the stones and construction of the memorial will be probed. How they got into the supply of the stone and who supported them. How they managed to grab the supply and construction work without tender. Exorbitant payment was made to the contractors.

The main thrust of the probe will be to nail the politicians and officers who made illegal money.
