There was a half-an-hour disruption in Metro rail services on the Shringar Nagar-Alambagh stretch on Thursday as power lines from the Metro sub-station tripped after kites with ‘metallic manjha’ got entangled in them.
The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) lodged an FIR against unnamed persons in this regard.
“So far, this is the third such incident in Metro. In the earlier two incidents, the LMRC had lodged FIR against anonymous persons at the Krishna Nagar and the Naka police stations,” said Kumar Keshav, MD, LMRC.
“Flying kites near the Metro corridors could cause electrocution to the kite flyer because of the high voltage running in the over head electrification (OHE) system of Lucknow Metro. The live electricity can flow through these metallic strings into the body of the kite flyers resulting in casualty,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}The LMRC urged residents not to fly kites around the Metro lines to prevent any mishap.
METRO RECRUITMENTS
From next month, the LMRC is going to start recruitments on 386 posts (under 21 categories). The corporation has a staff of 348 at present. From next year, the track from Amausi to Munshipulia would become operational and this would require more staff.
All the civil works in the underground Metro stations at Bapu Bhavan, Hazratganj and Charbagh would be completed before April 15, said officials.
LMRC TO LAUNCH APP
The LMRC is all set to launch Metro App in the first week of March. It will provide useful information to the passengers about stations, tickets and routes etc.
COFFEE, TEA STALLS AT METRO STATIONS
From next month, tea and coffee stalls would become operational at all the Metro stations from Transport Nagar to Charbagh. Tenders for the same have been floated, said Kumar Keshav.
