Ajit Kushwaha of the NGO, Childline, said, “We have been training students of government and private institutions in Lucknow in making herbal colours. We are also requesting them to sensitise others.”

At the Childline training camps, children are being taught how to make natural colours using arrowroot, food colours, talcum powder and turmeric.

Khushwaha said that many youngsters had been approaching Childline to get to know about the benefits of herbal colours and how they could be prepared in a cost-efficient way. “We were surprised to know that so many youngsters wanted to know how herbal colours were made and were willing to teach others also. But it was important to give them a cost-effective solution,” he said.

Ansh Narayan Gupta, one of the trainers, said, “It is important to train youths in making herbal colours. They should know that making these colours is not difficult at all.”
