The ruling SP also said the state government would probe from where the BSP got Rs. 3 crore to pay the railways for 10 trains and also pay for all the buses and cars to bring in supporters to Lucknow for the rally.

SP state spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said the BSP chief had “lost her mental balance” and that her “indecorous, irrelevant and unrestrained language against the SP chief speaks volumes about her upbringing that did not change despite her four terms as UP chief minister”.

Mayawati earlier charged the SP government with reducing UP to a “crime state” and termed chief minister Akhilesh Yadav as the "ghoshna mukhya mantri (chief minister of announcements)”.

She said at the rally, "Soon after the present government came to power I had expressed my apprehensions in this regard. Most of the goonda and mafia elements, who had been jailed during my government, are now out. Because of them, the life of the people, especially women, is not safe.”

Chaudhary said that Mayawati was frustrated because despite spending several crores to gather crowds, the turnout was far smaller than what she had expected and in that frustration she went on an on against chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and a leader like Mulayam Singh Yadav.
