The managing director of a Mumbai-based event management company was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a member of a musical troupe in a hotel in Hazratganj.
The woman alleged that the accused Santosh Kumar Gupta raped her after giving her a sedative-laced drink on the intervening night of January 31 and February 1.
The victim alleged that the incident took place when Gupta had come here to participate in a conference. The woman had also come for the same conclave and was staying in the same hotel in Hazratganj.
The woman had initially gone back with her musical troop but on February 6 she submitted a complaint with Hazratganj police and a case was registered against Gupta.
According to reports, Gupta was on a foreign trip and landed in Delhi on Monday and was arrested here in Lucknow on Tuesday when he visited again to participate in some other event.
