Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said the Samajwadi Party, which completed a year in power, had succeeded in implementing most of its promises made in the manifesto for the 2012 assembly election.
Yadav, who was in Mainpuri to address a conference of exservicemen, said a way had been paved for sustained development in the future. Even the opposition had accepted that SP had implemented its electoral promises within a year, he added.
Enumerating various welfare schemes implemented during the year, he said efforts were being made to provide employment to educated youths. He said the government had also made progress in the law and order, agriculture, health, education and women empowerment.
Yadav said the government was committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents. Lauding the services of jawans in protecting the borders and providing help in natural calamities, Yadav said the government would provide all assistance for the establishment of a Sainik School in Mainpuri, the parliamentary constituency of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Also laying stress on integrated development of farmers, Yadav said efforts would be made to provide adequate facilities for irrigation, seeds and fertilisers. The chief minister also honoured family members of the martyrs.

{{/usCountry}}Lieutenant General Anil Chait, G oC- i n- C, Central Command said the central command had been celebrating 50 glorious years. He added the aim was to raise awareness among youth and inspire them to be patriotic.
Steps were also being taken to solve the problems of ex-servicemen, he said, adding that the 1500-kilometre-long Surya Kiran Mashal rally was aimed at reaching out to family members of former defence personnel.
