After ignoring it for days, the women cops have now registered their complaint with the control room incharge SP Singh, who has lodged an FIR against the caller with the Qaiserbagh police station on Monday. A search is on to trace him.

"It had become painful attending to the calls. I used to get scared every time the phone rang. He used to call several times a day and talk nonsense," said a women operator.

The operator said it was not unusual to attend crank calls but this one seemed mentally sick. She said the miscreant would not retreat despite repeated warnings from male cops. "He even threatened some colleagues of getting them kidnapped from their house," she added. Sub-inspector Gajendra Singh, who is investigating the case, said initial probe suggested the caller usually made calls from one particular number.
