The murder of an intermediate student, Vijay Prashan Tiwari, 19, in Hasanganj on January 10 was the fallout of his love affair with a girl in his neighbourhood, who had committed suicide around a year ago. The city police claimed to have solved the case on Friday after the arrest of the girl’s uncle who allegedly committed the murder at the behest of her lawyer father.

ASP, trans-Gomti, Dinesh Yadav said the girl’s father Satyendra Singh believed that Tiwari was responsible for his daughter’s suicide and thus he conspired the murder with the help of his brother-in-law Arvind Singh alias Guddu. He said Guddu and the girl’s cousin Harshit Singh alias Monu had executed the killing when Tiwari was walking down to a dairy near his house in Hasanganj’s Khadra locality at around 4pm.

He said the arrested accused confessed to his crime and narrated the entire sequence of incident. He said Guddu and Monu followed Tiwari from his house when he left for the dairy and shot him from point blank range after finding a deserted place on Bandha road. He said Monu was driving the motorcycle while Guddu opened fire on Tiwari.
