"I feel sorry for him (Singh), as why he tendered an apology in the Babri Masjid demolition. After all it was the issue of Ram Temple, which made him the chief minister," Bharti told reporters.

The former fire-brand BJP leader, however, said that as a chief minister Kalyan Singh was "quite good".

Singh has been regretting for the incident since he joined hands with SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav after parting ways with the saffron party. In Etah, Uttar Pradesh, Singh said on Friday, "No Chief Minister wants an incident like Babri Masjid demolition to happen nor did I".

On the issue of Ram Temple, Bharti said, "The issue has ended on December 6, 1992 itself. It could be said that the demolition of Babri Masjid was a victory for the Hindu society and a defeat for the BJP. Now the Ram Temple could be built only through consensus."
