UP official shoots stray dog for barking at him, says he did it in ‘self-defence’

The officer, Vimal Dheer, was arrested and booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, after he shot the dog thrice with his licensed pistol when it barked at him.

In a horrific incident in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, a state government officer shot dead a stray dog for barking at him.

The officer, Vimal Dheer, was arrested and booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, after the incident in Kashiram Nagar on Saturday evening.

The stray dog used to live in Kashiram Nagar, and according to residents, they used to feed him and in turn the dog guarded the area.

The accused shot the dog thrice with his licensed pistol after it barked at him. However, he said he took the step in ”self-defence”.
