This Ice Cream Sandwich Day (August 2), indulge in frozen treats squashed between sprinkled doughnuts and slices of gooey red velvet cake.
The famous Iranian ice cream parlour K Rustoms, Churchgate, has been churning out interesting varieties of ice cream sandwiches for decades. Over the years, several mainstream restaurants in the city have also started including these delicious bites in their menus. While some eateries have kept the original cookie and vanilla ice cream recipe intact, others have introduced a few interesting twists.

A chocolate-y affair

With a twist

Jumbo Doughwich

This ice cream parlour serves doughnuts (Rs 260) layered with Belgian Chocolate ice cream, whipped cream and Oreo cookies. It is drizzled with chocolate fudge and caramel sauce. They also serve something called The Cookiewich (Rs180) — Belgian chocolate ice cream served in between two cookies, and dusted with colourful crunchies.

A gooey red velvet cupcake is scooped and stuffed with vanilla ice cream (Rs 200) here. The restobar also serves the classic ice cream cookie sandwich.

Childhood Memories On The Plate

As the name suggests, this dish (Rs 560) aims to bring back your childhood memories. Along with a treasure box that contains ice cream served in between Parle-G biscuits, the dish comprises Phantom cigarettes, a banana split stuffed with Cerelac mousse and toffee syrup, and a pot of edible mud chocolate, nuts and mint leaves.

Wildberry Ice Cream with Almond Discs
Seven Kitchens, St Regis, Lower Parel
Crunchy bitter almond discs are stuffed with Wild Berry Ice Cream (Rs 800). Another variant served here is the sweet mint, herb and chocolate chip ice cream (Rs 700), which is sandwiched between shortbread.
