Out of the nearly 7,000 students who passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) supplementary exam in July, 5,618 of them signed up for the first-ever special round of online admissions to the first year junior college (FYJC).
The students will be allotted seats on Wednesday.
These are the students who were ‘allowed to keep terms’ (ATKT) after the exams in March. Since the SSC re-exams were held in July instead of September-October this year, the students were able to receive their results by August-end, in time for junior college admissions this academic year. But as the online admission process for regular students had concluded by then, the state’s education department conducted a separate round of online admissions for these students.
Online applications from these students were invited from September 7 to 12 till midnight. The regular admissions concluded on September 2. “The response is more than we expected, usually these students opt for polytechnic courses and not mainstream colleges. We expect the numbers will increase even more by midnight,” said BB Chavan, deputy director of education, Mumbai region.
Students will receive temporary admissions on the basis of their results, which were declared online on August 30, as they are yet to get their original mark sheets. “Usually students are required to submit their original mark sheets while applying but the government asked us to make an exception for these students so that they do not miss too many classes,” added Chavan.

Students will be allotted seats on September 14.
They can pay fees and secure provisional admissions on the next couple of days.
But admissions will be confirmed only after they receive their original mark sheets.
The board said they will receive their marks by the third week of September.
