Applied for JEE-Advanced ’18? You can take online mock tests
The move to allow students to try their skills at the mock test in computer laboratories as JEE-Adv will be conducted in a completely computer-based format
A day after registrations to Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced (JEE-Adv) ended, the exam conducting authority is encouraging aspirants to try online mock tests. Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across the country have been roped in to help students understand the new process since this is the first year that JEE-Adv will be conducted in a completely computer-based format.
“Since this is the first year that JEE-Adv will be conducted in a fully computer based test mode, we don’t want applicants to get anxious. Through this service, several students, especially from rural India, will understand the new format for the test and be at ease,” said a senior official from the examination conducting authority. JEE-Adv will be conducted across the country on May 20.
The move to allow students to try their skills at the mock test in computer laboratories was introduced following concerns raised by experts about the new process leaving students from rural India anxious. “Many students have complained that the computer-based format will be completely new to them. Through the online mock test, everyone can get an idea of what to expect in the final test,” said the official.
According to a circular released by the exam conducting authority, students can visit any KV or JNV in their vicinity between May 1 and 15 and request some time on their computer facility for practicing on any of the mock tests available on www.jeeadv.ac.in to become familiar with the computer-based-test environment for JEE-Adv 2018. “To prevent misuse, candidates are requested to take a print-out or any other proof of their completed registration for JEE-Adv along with a valid photo ID,” states the circular.
More than 32% students who were eligible for JEE-Adv exam this year have opted out of the race. Registrations to JEE-Adv exam ended on Tuesday evening and while the top 2.31 lakh JEE-Main candidates were eligible for the exam, only 1.60 lakh candidates finished the registration process on Tuesday. Last year, 1.71 lakh of the 2.20 eligible candidates had registered for the JEE-Adv exam, which is the gateway for admission to premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
