When local journalist Ashok Shaishvarya went on a quest to withdraw money from a bank in CBD Belapur, he found what he sought but the money but is literally weighing heavy on him. Officials from the State Bank of Mysore gave him Rs 4,000 in coins of Rs2.
Shaishvarya had gone to the bank to exchange his old Rs500 and Rs1,000 notes and was supposed to leave for a wedding.
Commenting on this, the scribe said, “I was shocked to receive all the money in the coins. I had to put all of it several polythene bags before I could carry it.”
He added, “Of course they are a bit heavier than what I had expected. However, at least I have cash now and possessing so much change may turn out to be useful at the wedding.”
