The Bhandup police arrested a 28-year-old electronic engineer on Thursday for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl. The police said the incident occurred at the engineer’s residence.

“The girl and two of her friends were playing on the ground-floor of the accused’s building. The accused called the girl to a room on the first floor and asked her to help him pack his luggage. When she entered the room, he pushed her onto the bed and raped her. The girl screamed for help and fled after the incident,” said a police officer.

The girl narrated the incident to her family, after which the police were informed.
