Four people were killed in two separate road accidents early on Tuesday in Thane district.

The first accident took place in the wee hours of the morning at Bhiwandi. Three youngsters, between 20 and 23 years of age, were riding on one bike on Wada highway when their speeding two-wheeler skid and smashed into a container truck. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, but all three were pronounced dead on arrival. A case has been registered with Bhiwandi rural police station.
A few hours later, six people, including two women, travelling in a car on Ghodbunder Road, Thane, were injured after their driver lost control, and their vehicle skid and rammed into the road divider. One of the six victims was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. Three of the remaining five victims are in critical condition.
“We have alerted the victims’ relatives in both cases. After verification and post-mortem, the bodies will be handed over to the family,” said a police officer from Thane commissionerate, who did not wish to be named. “We have registered cases under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.”
