A case has been registered with the Shivaji Nagar police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The Thane anti-extortion cell (AEC) is also investigating the case.

The hotelier got two calls on his mobile phone with a number starting from +3. The caller identified himself as Pujari and told him he wants Rs50 lakh or else the hotelier will be killed in a week.

He also threatened to kill the hotelier’s family.
