Shetye, a life convict, was allegedly assaulted by the officials of Byculla prison as she raised a complaint against them for providing fewer eggs and bread. The incident occurred on June 23 around 11am, when Shetye was allegedly assaulted. Around 5.30pm, she was found in unconscious in the bathroom. The police recorded the complaint of an inmate who was an eyewitness on June 25.

An FIR has been registered at the Sakinaka police station in Andheri (East), and further probe is on to nab the accused. According to the Sakinaka police, the complainant is a resident of Andheri (East) and wanted to visit Italy with his wife. Hence, he searched for the number of a booking agent online, and spoke to him over the phone.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal is all set to gift 72 new local train services to the city’s commuters on the eve of Dussehra. The launch is likely to be during his second official visit to the city on Friday. Of the new services, 40 will be on Central Railway (CR) and 32 on the Western Railway (WR). Goyal will also officially announce the change in nomenclature of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Elphinstone Road to Prabhadevi station.
