Just four days after a 20-year-old college student was stabbed to death by her stalker on Eastern Express Highway in Thane, Kasarvadavli police arrested a 28-year-old for stalking, harassing and threatening his former girlfriend. Amol Gangaram Kurkute, 28, had met the woman, now 22, five years when they worked at the same real estate firm in Thane.

“After the woman rejected his marriage proposal 2016, Kurkute married another woman. However, he kept stalking his ex-girlfriend. The woman complained to her current boyfriend, who sent a message to Kurkute, warning him of dire consequences if didn’t stop stalking his girlfriend. Kurkute had threatened to kill the woman for rejecting his proposal”, said inspector Nasir Kulkarni Kasarvadavli police station.
Police said the message from the woman’s boyfriend infuriated Kurkute whon then upped his stalking. Investigation revealed that Kurkute had threatened the woman to upload their pictures on social media if she refused to meet him. He even tried to bully her into breaking up with her current boyfriend.
Kulkarni said, “On Tuesday, Kurkute visited the woman’s office. But when he found the door locked to prevent him from entering, he smashed a glass décor on the door and kept abusing her. After the incident, a complaint was lodged against Kurkute. He was arrested in Thane and is in police custody.”
