The Vistadome coach will have a glass ceiling and enable tourists to get a better view.

The decision was taken after Ravindra Gupta, Member (Rolling Stock), Railway Board interacted with tourists on the toy train, who suggested to provide a better view of the ghat section.

“The modification of an existing coach will be done in our workshop. This will also lead to rise in fares, which will be decided after consulting the Railway Board,” said a CR official.

Further, CR has also collaborated with Google Art and Culture, which will capture panoramic images of the Matheran railways document and digitalise them.

In order to promote tourism in the section, CR will also convert one of the coaches into a restaurant that will serve local cuisine.
