Mumbai man wanted for two years in murder case arrested

Mumbai city news: Shivaji Dattatray Ghodake was arrested from Ahmednagar.

The Mumbai crime branch on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly murdered a person in Dadar two years ago. He was arrested from Ahmednagar, which was his hideout for two years, said the police.

The man, Shivaji Dattatray Ghodake, was known by several aliases such as Nilesh Rama Shinde, Nilya, Abhimanyu Ghodake, Abbya, Lambya, Ghodakya etc.

“A police team visited Shrirampur railway station in Ahmednagar. We found him polishing shoes there,” said senior inspector Ajay Sawant of the unit 5.

According to the police, Ghodake murdered Baliram Pandurang Rakte, who was staying near Dadar railway station (west), over drugs on September 24, 2015. Ghodake slashed Rakte’s hand with a bottle of solution. He bled to death. Initially, the murder case was registered with the government railway police (GRP) at Mumbai Central and it was later transferred to Shivaji Park police station.

The unit 5 of the crime branch and the local police had visited several places in Maharashtra to trace Ghodake culprit in the past two years. The Mumbai police announced a cash reward of Rs10,000 for the people who help to nab the culprit, said crime branch officer.
